The IAAPA Safety Bootcamp is an intensive two-day in-person workshop that combines theoretical sessions, group dynamics, practical cases, and a technical tour in a theme park.

Day 1 – Definitions and Fundamentals: Safety and Accessibility Culture

Session 1 – From Design to Operation: Concepts and Fundamentals of Risk Management and Safety Culture
Seminar exploring key concepts and the history/evolution of the occupational safety approach and safety culture, risk and hazard identification in operations, decision-making, and its connection to investment returns

Practical Exercise 1: Creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Group work to practice the application of SOPs

2 – 3:30 p.m.
Session 2 – Beyond Inclusion: Passenger Accessibility and Eligibility
Discussion of the fundamentals of guest accessibility and eligibility, addressing accessibility issues from a safety perspective. The seminar will include discussion of key concepts, eligibility criteria, and best practices to ensure comfort and an optimal experience without compromising operational safety.

Practical Exercise 2: Risk Identification
Interactive session combining group work and general discussion, where participants will identify risks related to an assigned product. Each group will then analyze a specific area or attraction in a park to develop a Risk Matrix from the visitor/user perspective.

Day 2 – Observation, Technical Analysis and Contextual Application

Session 3 – Accident Investigation with a Focus on Human Factors and Safety
A technical discussion with a preventive focus, in which the speaker will share real-life events—from minor injuries to fatal accidents—from her perspective as an expert and specialist in human factors science.

11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Session 4 – Emerging Technologies: Efficient Inspections and Documentation
Discussion of the processes, methodologies, tools, and equipment available for proper evidence preservation and forensic analysis.

12 – 1:30 p.m.
Guided Tour of Mundo Petapa Park (Field Observations)
Tour focusing on guests flow, accessibility, and operational risks, with the use of observation sheets by teams for field analysis.

Team Activity: Improvement Proposal Based on Observation
Group work will analyze the findings from the park tour, develop proposals or micro-action plans, and each team will have the opportunity to briefly present their conclusions.

Contextualization Panel with Local Representatives (Guatemala)
