The Certification Process
Expand allThe first step on your journey to earning an IAAPA certification is to understand the program eligibility requirements, certification process, and policies. It is important to review the following to determine if you meet the eligibility requirements.

The second step on your journey is to complete the application, submit your supporting document(s), and payment. This step is completed in IAAPA's Online Learning Portal. In this step it is important to complete the following tasks:
- Submit payment and application
- Submit supporting documentation
- Resume or C.V.
- College/university transcripts or degree (for ICAE only)
- You will be notified when your application has been approved.

The third step on your certification journey takes place after your application is approved. You will receive instructions to schedule your exam at a date / time convenient for you.
In this step it is important to complete the following tasks:
- Log onto the Prolydian website to schedule an examination date and time.
- Review the exam syllabus to self-assess individual strengths and weaknesses to the various exam topics.

- Engage with IAAPA content (archives, webinars, institutes, online learning, etc.) to prepare for the exam.
- Purchase the ICAP Study Guide to get familiar with exam content and sample questions in advance.

The fourth step requires you to sit for your pre-scheduled examination. Once you arrive at the Prolydian website you will be greeted by your proctor who will take you through the secure check-in process and initiate and terminate your exam that you have been authorized for. It is important to follow the exact protocols issued by the proctor during this step to avoid issues.
In this step it is important to complete the following tasks:
- Review the Step four section of the Certification handbook and policy manual one more time to ensure you are prepared for your examination.
- Log into the Prolydian website on the scheduled date and time.
- During the check-in process with the proctor, show your government-issued photo id to verify your identity.
- Follow the protocols provided by the proctor.
Congratulations on earning your IAAPA Certification! Now that you hold a prestigious IAAPA credential, it is essential to maintain your relevance and industry knowledge. Maintaining your credential requires all certificants to accumulate 40 hours of continuing education every three years.
For each three-year period, a renewal fee of $200 for IAAPA members and $300 for nonmembers must be paid when the renewal application is submitted. The application and payment are due no later than December 31 the year the certification expires.
