Building a more resilient future for the attractions industry
At IAAPA, sustainability involves three interconnected dimensions:
• Environmental – protecting nature and resources
• Social - caring for people and communities
• Economic - ensuring long-term financial stability
We believe sustainability is essential to the future of the attractions industry. As the global association representing facilities, manufacturers, and suppliers across amusement parks, theme parks, water parks, family entertainment centers, zoos, aquariums, museums, science centers and more, we are committed to advancing sustainable business practices that benefit our members and their guests.
While our sustainability journey is evolving, IAAPA is actively integrating environmental, social, and governance principles into our operations and supporting the industry in doing the same.
Our commitment
IAAPA is dedicated to building a more sustainable attractions industry by:
Advocating for sustainable practices – Promoting and supporting sustainable development across the attractions industry by providing best practices, tools, and resources.
Educating and informing – Offering sustainability-focused learning opportunities through IAAPA events, webinars, and online resources.
Leading by example – Managing our organization and operations sustainably, integrating sustainability into all business practices, and creating a culture of sustainability within IAAPA.
Sustainability is a shared responsibility, and IAAPA is committed to being a trusted partner in supporting our members on this journey.
Sustainability in action
IAAPA is embedding sustainability into its work, step by step. Here are key initiatives to support members already underway:
Creating member resources – Developing sustainability whitepapers, toolkits, educational sessions and training to help members integrate sustainability into their operations.
Building a strong sustainability community - Empowering regional sustainability committees and task forces to drive sustainability initiatives and establishing a sustainability professionals’ network –a platform for influencers and shapers in the attractions industry to connect and collaborate.
Expanding sustainability content and engagement – sharing sustainability case studies, best practices, and storytelling across IAAPA’s website and other channels as well as introducing an annual structured reporting process, including key sustainability metrics, and performance tracking to enhancing communication and transparency.
