Sustainability at IAAPA Expo Asia
IAAPA and its partners are committed to instituting sustainable efforts whenever possible. The following is a list of practices at this year’s Expo Asia.

As IAAPA is the host of our expos, we believe we must lead by example to integrate sustainability in our business practices. The following are the sustainability measures at this year’s Expo:
- Education session handouts are only available electronically.
- Education sessions surveys are administered digitally.
- Stories from the trade show floor are now produced real-time in a video format and shared on social media, reducing the need for paper and resulting in 0% carbon emissions by eliminating the need for trucks to deliver printed materials.
- Exhibitor material is distributed electronically.
- Show guide is not printed and attendees and exhibitors are encouraged to use the website and app.
- Minimizing printed signage whenever possible.
- Badges designed so no additional badge holder is required. Tickets are coupled with badges instead of printed.
- Lanyards and badges are collected at the end of the expo and recycled using TerraCycle.
- Show bag quantity produced is limited to 50% of expected attendance and designed for reuse.
- Providing a Nursing Mother’s Room.
IAAPA has partnered with companies that support IAAPA’s sustainability initiatives. The following are some of the key vendors and their sustainability efforts at this year’s Expo:

- Sustainable Materials & Eco-Friendly Practices
- Reusable/Rentable AV Equipment: Partnering with Dorier, we’ll prioritize energy-efficient LED screens, modular staging, and reusable cabling to minimize single-use materials.
- Digital Signage: Reduce paper waste with dynamic digital displays (powered by renewable energy where possible).
- Eco-Conscious Branding: Use recyclable or biodegradable materials for banners, badges, and signage (e.g., FSC-certified paper, bamboo, or fabric).
- Waste Reduction & Recycling
- Zero-Waste Zones: Implement clearly labeled recycling stations (e-waste, plastics, compost) and collaborate with venue partners to track waste diversion.
- Post-Event Material Recovery: Donate usable materials (e.g., furniture, decor) to local organizations and ensure proper e-waste recycling for AV gear.
- Food Waste Management: Work with caterers to minimize leftovers and compost organic waste.
- Carbon Footprint Reduction
- Energy Efficiency: Dorier’s ISO 14001-certified AV solutions will optimize power usage (e.g., low-energy lighting, smart load management).
- Sustainable Logistics: Prioritize local suppliers and electric/hybrid transport for equipment. Offset unavoidable emissions through verified carbon credits (aligned with MCI’s Net Zero Carbon Events pledge).
- Digital Hybrid Options: Offer virtual attendance components to reduce travel-related emissions.
Our Assurance is that all efforts align with:
- MCI Group’s net-zero by 2030 commitment and ISO 20121 (Sustainable Events) certification.
- Transparency via post-event sustainability reporting (waste diverted, carbon saved, etc.).
