Board of Directors Frequently Asked Questions
Expandir todoIAAPA is governed by a global board of directors that establishes the strategic priorities of the association. Each director has a fiduciary duty to be loyal to the association, act in its best interests, avoid conflicts of interest, maintain the confidentiality of association information, and avoid utilizing the office for personal gain or for the benefit of their company.
The Association strives to achieve a balance of geography, facility size, and industry segments on the board. The 22 directors include: six officers (chair, first vice chair, second vice chair, treasurer, immediate past chair, and the IAAPA president and CEO); eight at-large facility or lifetime and honorary members; four regional advisory board chair directors (Asia Pacific, Europe/Middle East/Africa, Latin America/Caribbean, North America); two manufacturer/supplier/consultant directors; and two past chair directors. The president and CEO is a non-voting member of the board.
The IAAPA Governance Committee recruits and recommends the slate of candidates to the global board of directors for annual election. The committee also assesses the global board’s current composition and identifies knowledge gaps; employs a recruitment plan; and continuously cultivates new global board prospects. The IAAPA Governance Committee and board will select new board members from those who apply, a talent search within the industry, and through other recruiting methods.
Those interested in serving on the global board should submit an application. The application portal for the 2026 global board of directors opens in early February and will close June 12, 2025. If you have questions about the board, email [email protected].
