David Hill
David began his career in the attractions industry in 1992 as a Ride Operator at Drayton Manor Park in the UK. Over the next two decades, he progressed through roles in operations management, training, and safety. From 2010 to 2015, he collaborated closely with industry leader David Bromilow, who encouraged him to share his expertise at national industry events.
In 2015, David briefly relocated to the United States to support the launch of Thomas Land at Edaville Family Theme Park in Massachusetts, where he developed operational documentation, policies, and procedures. Upon returning to the UK, he consulted on operational best practices before joining Blackpool Pleasure Beach in 2016, where he currently serves as Ride Operations Manager.
Throughout his 30+ year career, David has remained committed to enhancing safety and operational efficiency across attractions. He firmly believes in continuously asking, "Can we be better?"—a question that drives his approach to leadership and training.
David has presented on a wide range of topics, including risk assessment, incident management, lockout/tagout procedures, and major incident planning. He was instrumental in establishing the BALPPA Ride and Attraction Operations Subgroup and has contributed to the review of the UK’s HSG175 safety guidance.
With a passion for sharing knowledge and learning from others, David is enthusiastic about contributing to the IAAPA community and hopes to be considered for faculty and speaking opportunities.
