Kings Dominion Strikes Up the Band and Doubles Down on Entertainment
Park places live entertainment at forefront of 2026 season

It’s about to get loud and live at Kings Dominion this season. The facility announced on Monday the park will present a deep breadth of entertainment options in 2026.
“This summer, entertainment isn’t an add‑on — it’s embedded in the heartbeat of the park,” says park manager Jennifer Schofield. “This expanded lineup reflects our commitment to delivering the exceptional park experience our guests want and deserve.”
Execution of that plan includes:
- Live music performed daily
- Roaming performers and immersive environments
- High energy performances by day
- Spectacular nighttime finales
- And simple, “joyful moments” paired with cutting edge technology
STRATEGY BEHIND THE UPDATED BEATS
The decision to invest in live entertainment extends from a focus group with new Six Flags President and CEO John Reilly. The operator used guest feedback, held conversations with senior leadership, and looked at fan engagement. Through the process, Kings Dominion refined their vision: deliver more of what guests crave and elevate every visit with new moments.
“The result is an experience that moves seamlessly from day to night, appeals to all ages—and paired with world-class rides for the whole family—clearly sets a visit to Kings Dominion apart from any other family fun in the region,” says Kelly Daugherty, entertainment director for Six Flags based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
From a logistics standpoint, the facility operates its own employee housing complex adjacent from the park where it can house performers.
ENTERTAINMENT BY DAY
Daytime highlights to the new entertainment focus include a cirque-style show inside the Kings Dominion Theater; a percussion show inside the new Jungle X‑pedition section of the park; a high‑energy five‑piece band featuring regional and local talent delivering two distinct sets near the park’s sprawling entry fountain; the new Splash! Water Parade featuring whimsical floats and energetic performers where through crowd participation everyone gets wet; and Bands in Residence where regional bands perform multiple live sets per day, delivering rock, blues, country, folk, bluegrass, indie, alternative, and pop music.
Roving entertainment includes the Kings Dominion Clown Band roaming International Street, Candy Apple Grove, and midway areas; Family Magic with Peanuts where children can greet characters, like Snoopy; and KD Legacy: Singing Mushrooms & Frog Pianist where the park’s whimsical animatronic ensemble continues to perform with updated playlists.
ENTERTAINMENT BY NIGHT
A wide array of evening entertainment includes the month-long Drone & Fireworks Spectacular: Ignite the Night on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights; Rock the Night will take over the fountain stage with 20 performers creating a festival-style finale; and Star-Spangled Nights is a fireworks display set to patriotic music for America’s 250th celebration.
“Live, immersive and nostalgic — this summer is all about what our guests value most,” Schofield says. “Entertainment matters, and we’ve made it a priority by delivering a more robust, high‑quality offering that gives guests new reasons to visit again and again.”
