Motivation, ambition, and $100 million created “The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man” at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Bob Rogers, founder and chief creative officer of BRC Imagination Arts, once again convened his popular Legends panel at IAAPA Expo. In 2021, Rogers brought together the creative thinkers who played a leading role in creation of the ride: Thierry Coup, senior vice president and chief creative officer at Universal Creative; Phil Hettema, president and creative director of The Hettema Group; and Scott Trowbridge, portfolio creative executive and studio leader for Walt Disney Imagineering (formerly with Universal Creative). Among the many things that had never been done before: the attraction incorporated roving motion-base vehicles and rear-projected, 3D digital media that is viewed on multiple screens, that incorporate shifting perspectives.
