Dennis Voronin, project manager of At360, “the world’s only compact, looping roller coaster” took the stage at IAAPA Expo on Wednesday to announce the company’s new project with the EnterIdeas Group (Booth #4011) team.
Voronin proudly announced the reveal of a new three-axis, virtual reality (VR) ride that he said is going to be “very wow” and “much scary.” Why? Because the team has engineered an all-new DogeCoaster.
Doge is a popular internet meme—a humorous video, image, idea, piece of text, or even behavior that causes an internet phenomenon and is then spread or replicated rapidly and frequently—that began trending in the early 2010s. It portrays a Shiba Inu dog making a wide-eyed face, and it is surrounded by words called, “doge speak.”
Doge saw a resurgence in popularity recently due to the rise of the cryptocurrency, Dogecoin. Now, EnterIdeas Group is paying homage to the currency and the meme with this latest project.
The VR ride takes riders through a “thrilling and hilarious” ride through scenes inspired by various memes over the last 20 years and send them through a series of climbs, curves, and inversions that mimic a real steel roller coaster. The track is also based on the actual price charts of its similarly named cryptocurrency, emulating with it the rises and falls of Dogecoin’s value.
The design was also made with smaller businesses in mind, as a way for them to acquire a kind of intellectual property presence at a lower price point, since the Doge meme is public domain. DogeCoaster will be available in the first quarter of 2022.
