Peppa Pig Theme Park Opening in February 2022

During a press conference Tuesday, leaders from Merlin Entertainments announced Feb. 24, 2022 as the opening date for Peppa Pig Theme Park, coming to Winter Haven, Florida, steps away from Legoland Florida Resort. Designed for preschoolers, the world’s first Peppa Pig Theme Park will feature six new rides, themed playscapes, and a water play area. 

“We are thrilled to bring this beloved character to Central Florida,” said Rex Jackson, park president of Peppa Pig Theme Park and managing director of Legoland Resorts, North America. “Our teams are working diligently to find ways to make the attractions and playscapes across this park as accessible as possible. A comprehensive accessibility guide has been developed for all the park’s experiences.”

Jackson announced the park is partnering with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to earn its accreditation as a certified autism partner. Legoland Florida Resort teams are also working to earn accreditation at Legoland’s theme park, water park, and three on-site hotels. 

“Through our partnership with Peppa Pig [Theme Park], we will work with park leadership to develop pretravel planning tools and conduct a staff-wide autism sensitivity and awareness training,” said IBCCES CEO and Chairman Myron Pincomb. 

Keith Carr, Merlin Entertainments North American project director, said the Merlin Magic Making team and Technical Park ride manufacturers worked closely to develop adaptations for “Peppa Pig’s Balloon Ride.”

“The ride vehicles of ‘Peppa Pig’s Balloon Ride’ have been crafted to look like a hot air balloon and are especially designed to allow children to use wheelchairs to roll onto the balloon basket without needing to transfer from their wheelchairs,” he said. “The park’s marquee water play attraction, ‘The Muddy Puddle Splash Pad,’ has been developed with kid-friendly accessibility in mind. The ground will be specially grated for wheelchair use, and several water play elements are being choreographed for the enjoyment of all guests and all abilities.”

A ride vehicle for “Peppa Pig’s Balloon Ride” is on display at Technical Park’s Booth # 4015.
