Joey Baumer

Short biography

Joey Baumer is a distinguished professional in the aquatics industry with a career spanning nearly two decades, he current serves as the Director of Aquatics at The Jenkins Organization/ Great Escapes RV Resorts. His journey in aquatics began at a Boy Scout Camp in Ohio, where he first served as a lifeguard, demonstrating early on his commitment to safety and excellence in aquatic management. His career progressed significantly as he took on operational roles for aquatics programs at notable venues including Coney Island Park in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Gulf Islands Waterpark in Gulfport, Mississippi.   In his current capacity, Baumer is responsible for overseeing the operations of aquatics programs at all Great Escapes RV Resorts across the United States, ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency. His leadership extends beyond operational oversight, as he is actively involved in the broader aquatics community. Baumer's expertise is recognized through his role as a Certified Pool & Spa Operator Instructor with the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), and his active memberships in the Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code (CMAHC) and ASTM International. He also contributes to the industry's development as a member of the IAAPA Waterparks Committee and the World Waterpark Association's (WWA) Resort Committee, previously having previously served on the WWA Safety Committee.   Baumer's academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology with a Minor in Psychology from Northern Kentucky University, reflecting a broad and insightful educational background that complements his professional achievements. He has a passion for safety and commitment to excellence in the aquatics industry. Baumer has achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and is a certified PADI Scuba Diver.
