The popular Urban Air Adventure Park’s new Immersive Reality Arena in Southlake, Texas, engages both the bodies and imaginations of its users. It works like this: Images are projected onto the walls and floors of the trampoline arena, and guests then interact with the projections—for example, using dodgeballs to splatter a wall with paint or destroy alien spaceships.
With a variety of gaming options, the attraction can accommodate up to 30 guests at once and has no age limit. Players use a radio-frequency identification (RFID) armband to earn points that can be redeemed for prizes within the park.
“We’ve found a way to place the guests inside the game where they can experience a whole new world of active entertainment,” says Michael Browning, Urban Air Adventure Park CEO. “Whether you have a kid who likes video games or a kid who wants to be active, the Immersive Reality Arena appeals to both. Our patented technology differs from many VR and AR products in that it immerses players in the game but does not require glasses or goggles.”
