Reflections on industry support ahead of IAAPA Expo Asia 2024

How I found my way into the exciting world of the attractions industry is fascinating. It all started with a serendipitous connection I made with an old client.

At the time, her company was on the lookout for a salesperson to conquer the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. I’ve always been up for an adventure, so I thought, why not give it a shot? Little did I know, this opportunity would lead me to a world filled with thrilling roller coasters and unforgettable experiences. This opportunity was also my steppingstone to becoming IAAPA’s APAC vice president and executive.

When my old client reached out to me about the sales position in the APAC region, it exemplified the importance of making and keeping connections. Just like my client had a network of contacts and colleagues, IAAPA serves as a hub that connects professionals and companies from all regions of the world.

IAAPA is a global association dedicated to promoting and supporting the attractions industry. This dynamic organization brings together professionals from all corners of the globe, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas. Through IAAPA, a vast network of connections is established, allowing individuals and organizations to share knowledge, best practices, and innovations across borders.

By joining the attractions industry and becoming a part of IAAPA, I realized that the APAC region is not isolated; rather, it is intricately linked to other regions. The industry thrives on the exchange of ideas, technological advancements, and cultural influences that transcend geographical boundaries.

Throughout my time working in the APAC region, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with professionals from different parts of the world thanks to IAAPA’s global network. Whether it’s attending industry conferences, participating in virtual events, or engaging in online communities, IAAPA has provided me with opportunities to connect with industry leaders, experts, and enthusiasts worldwide.

These connections have proven invaluable in my professional growth and understanding of the attractions industry. By tapping into the collective knowledge and experiences of individuals from various regions, I’ve gained invaluable insights into different markets, consumer preferences, and industry trends.

This context has broadened my perspective and allowed me to contribute to the growth and development of the attractions industry—not only in the APAC region but on a global scale as well.

I believe being connected is one of the most important factors ensuring the broader success of the attractions industry, and I encourage everyone to join us at IAAPA Expo Asia, May 28-30 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.
