Cheryl Salazar

Short biography

Cheryl Salazar, MPA, CPRP currently serves as Co-Founder and Managing Partner of High Road Management Training. With nearly 20 years serving in municipal government, she started her career as a lifeguard with the City of Fontana. In quick succession, she was promoted to Pool Manager and then Aquatics Coordinator, overseeing four aquatics facilities and led her team through the grand opening of their largest. Cheryl ventured into the waterpark industry when she was hired at Riverside County Regional Parks and Open Space District to assist in opening and work at The Cove Waterpark and later DropZone Waterpark. Cheryl became experienced in all aspects of waterpark operations including aquatics, maintenance, human resources, retail, guest services, events, summer camps, and group sales. Later she transitioned to a position as a Recreation Supervisor II with the City of San Marcos. While there, Cheryl managed their aquatics and pop up rec programs, city-wide events, the non-profit arm of the department, marketing including designing and editing the city magazine, and was the liaison to the Youth and Parks & Recreation Commission. She is currently a member of the Technology & Innovation Committee for World Waterpark Association after serving 10 years in a leadership role. Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from California State University - San Bernardino and Masters of Public Administration from California Baptist University.
