Marten is the Director of Sustainability at Bluestone National Park Resort, Wales, with a remit for Net Zero, energy, waste, biodiversity, charitable giving, and community relations. Marten has a degree in environmental science, a master’s in business management, and 16 years as a leader in the Charity sector, providing holistic experience in Sustainable Development’s foundational pillars: Social, Environmental and Economic.

During 16 years leading an educational charity, Marten, founded an experiential education program, engaging over 50,000 young people and communities in sustainability over a decade. This led to recognition from South Wales Chamber of Commerce, the Institute of Welsh Affairs, Welsh Government, and the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).

Since Joining Bluestone in 2019 Marten has overseen three scope 1,2 and 3 carbon footprints; a 92.5% reduction in market-based Scopes 1 and 2 emissions; led a reduction in energy use by 6% whilst revenue grew by 45%; secured a multimillion-pound ESG loan; spoken as Keynote on UK national platforms on Climate, Waste, and Biodiversity; and developed a case study for Welsh Government on Sustainable Tourism.

In 2023, Marten was named by the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, as one of Wales’s, 100 Change Makers for the period 2015 -22.

Bluestone Info: Bluestone is a family-owned farm diversification, hospitality business, with a 30% share incentive plan for staff. The only village resort in the UK’s only Coastal National Park. Going from a dairy farm in 2006 – to the county’s largest employer with over 900 staff and 200,000 guests per annum in 2023.
