Gerald Rakestraw
Gerald has been the Senior Vice President of Safety since 2014 for Herschend Family Entertainment. Prior to he has held various positions withing Herschend beginning in 1995. Gerald earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Georgia and his Mater’s Public Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill – all contributing to his drive towards process and management for safety and success. He has provided leadership to the Safety, Attractions and Maintenance operating departments and lead the company efforts with operational regulatory compliance. Additionally, he has driven the company Safety Culture by leading the Enterprise Risk Management program for the entire company (Parks, Harlem Globetrotters and Pink Jeep) and guided the Repair & Replace capital program.
Gerald currently remains active in the attractions' industry through his many contributions and efforts with IAAPA. As the Chair of the North America Safety Sub Committee, a member of the Global Security Committee, contributor to IAAPA Advocacy Days, IAAPA Leadership Conference and as an IAAPA PAC Supporter.
