Diligently working through harsh winter weather in the mountains, the staff of Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, met the challenge of debuting three new amusement rides before summer at the 66-year-old park, which first opened in 1957 as the state’s first amusement park. The three rides—a family spinning coaster, a Mini Swing from SBF Visa, and a drop tower ride from Moser Rides—are designed for family-oriented guests.
Members of the Tweetsie Railroad staff were able to see and ride the roller coaster last November at IAAPA Expo 2022 in Orlando. Park President Chris Robbins said everyone at the Expo seemed to love the ride, and he expects it to be a hit. The Mini Swing is designed for younger guests between 32 and 59 inches tall who crave the fun of its flying chairs. The new drop tower is almost 50 feet tall and will provide riders a bird’s-eye view of the park as the vehicle ascends to the top.
The three new rides are part of extensive construction and renovations taking place around Tweetsie Railroad in 2023.
