The nostalgic feelings evoked when Kansas Citians hear the words Zambezi Zinger now include a heightened thrill factor.
In Worlds of Fun’s Africa section, sitting on the same site as one of the park’s first roller coaster, rises a roller coaster with the same name. However, this version of the Zambezi Zinger reaches speeds of 45 mph and features Great Coasters International’s Hybrid Titan Track and Infinity Flyer trains capable of carrying 16 riders.
While Skyline Design created an iconic spiral lift—one that harkens back to the design of the previous ride made by Anton Schwarzkopf—new elements include very low-to-the-ground, twisted track sections that heighten the sense of speed and excitement. Important to the new ride is also a sense of history and theme within the Africa setting. “This ride tells a story, and the story is a great one. It’s super exiting and its super unique, and it ties in the quirky history of the original Zambezi Zinger,” explains Worlds of Fun Communications Manager, Brian McGannon.
