While guests spend an average of 4 hours in the park, only 5% of that time is on rides. Parks must look beyond attractions to connect with their guests, so every moment becomes as memorable as a great ride. The challenge is that guests are all different! This session will explore the way parks can and do have tailored offerings with the “joy-maximizing factor” to trigger rave reviews and drive repeat visitation.

The cycle of joy starts from a better understanding of preferences of the individual. It helps the operator shape each moment around guests as they desire. Technology is now available to personalize and modernize parks and help them deliver better guest experiences for the whole customer journey, before, during, and after visiting. Joy has evolved. Guests’ expectations are higher than ever, and operators need to meet them to succeed in the market.

Joy maximization is a perspective shift in understanding what drives joy in parks, and practically, how operators can trigger those moments. This never-ending cycle of joy is a mindset change that has shaped Vantage’s technology, as recognized by IAAPA with the 2022 Brass Ring IMPACT Award. Guests’ desire for convenience and personalized experiences mean it is not just about a good ride anymore.
