Global Amusement Industry Safety Experts to Gather in Cancun, Mexico, for IAAPA Safety Forum
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEXICO CITY, Mexico (Aug. 17, 2018) – Amusement industry safety representatives will travel from around the globe to Cancun, Mexico, to represent the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) and its Global Safety Committee during a first-of-its-kind safety forum that will focus on the importance of having a deep-rooted culture of safety, and the need for comprehensive safety programs based on industry best practices in all facets of the attractions industry.
Safety is the attractions industry’s number one priority: safety for guests, safety for employees, and the safe operation and maintenance of plant and equipment. The IAAPA Safety Forum provides an opportunity for attractions operators and owners to examine issues regarding creating and maintaining a culture of safety, and to learn the latest developments and best practices in ride standards, loss prevention, risk management, ride design, and safety compliance issues.
The IAAPA Safety Forum also provides industry stakeholders with direct access to the world’s leading safety experts during an interactive program that allows everyone to not just listen to the discussion, but also to have an active role and voice. Invited stakeholders include government officials, operators of both portable and fixed rides, safety consultants, operators of water parks, consumer advocates, suppliers, and ride inspectors.
Two moderated panels will feature distinguished global safety experts who bring decades of safety experience to the program. They will share their passion, knowledge, and experience with Forum attendees.
“We are excited Cancun was selected as the host location for the IAAPA Safety Forum,” said Paulina Reyes, vice president, Latin American Operations, IAAPA. “It is the perfect location as Mexico is experiencing rapid growth and development in the attractions and theme park industry, including several world-class projects opening soon. This Forum will bring industry professionals together for honest and open discussions about standards harmonization, best practices in operations, maintenance and training, and compliance.”
Jim Seay, Chairman of the IAAPA Global Safety Committee and President of Premier Rides will moderate one of the panel discussions.
“It’s important to bring together regulators, safety experts, industry consultants, manufacturers, and operators from all corners of the business so that we can learn from each other,” Seay added. “Through insightful presentations and frank discussions, we will come together to help ensure safety is always at the forefront in everything we do in the amusement industry. This forum will connect industry professionals and have an impact on safety practices around the world.”
The IAAPA Safety Forum will be held September 10-11, 2018. The Forum will be hosted by Ventura Entertainment’s Ventura Park located in Cancun, Mexico.
As part of the Forum, attendees will take part in exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Ventura Park. A networking reception will also allow everyone to come together in a relaxed environment to make new connections.
