IAAPA has made several efforts to keep IAAPA Expo sustainable and environmentally friendly across its planning, organization, venue, and execution.
The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) is one of the largest LEED Gold-certified convention centers in North America and has the largest municipal rooftop solar array in the Southeast United States, generating more than 1.5 million GWh every year. The OCCC offers recycling collection bins in all meeting and event areas.
This year, IAAPA and its show partners have committed to incorporating a number of initiatives, including:
- Increasing the use of digital communications, surveys, and signage to reduce printed materials.
- Designing badges so no additional badge holder is required.
- Collecting lanyards at the end of the Expo to reuse at future events.
- Cleaning and reusing booth furnishings, aisle carpets, carpet padding, and fabric drapes.
- Partnering with Give Kids The World to collect leftover exhibitor products, such as plush, games, T-shirts, supplies, and more.
- Organic recycling of food scraps generated during preparation, execution, and breakdown of food service events.
IAAPA invites exhibitors to participate in the Exhibitor Sustainability Pledge by committing to five or more sustainable practices during IAAPA Expo, outlined at IAAPA.org/IAAPAExpoSustainability. Companies that complete the Exhibitor Sustainability Pledge form by Oct. 21, 2022, will have their logo featured on digital screens and slides on-site at IAAPA Expo 2022 and on the Sustainability at IAAPA Expo webpage. Participating exhibitors will also receive an electronic badge to promote their pledge commitment.
