Edible Ink Printer Debuts
Ready to sink your teeth into something different? Primera Technology Inc. created an edible ink printer that prints designs onto cookies and other treats. The manufacturer of specialty color printers says its Eddie printer is the world’s first-and-only NSF International and GMP-certified edible ink printer. Eddie is designed to print patterns, logos, or characters onto cookies, candy, white chocolate, biscuits, and even certain frostings.
The machine prints one dozen 3.5-inch cookies in two minutes. Eddie’s carousel feeder rotates the cookies into position, while the printer pulls in cookies one a time, before printing upon them, and then putting the cookies back on the carousel. The process is done automatically. No drying time is needed, as Primera Technology says treats are ready for sale immediately after printing.
China’s First Stainless Steel Mat Racer
When the huge Adventure Bay water park opened in summer 2020 in Xiangyang, China, it featured the eight-lane Mat Racer, which is the first stainless steel mat racer in China, according to Hendrik Wiegand, managing director of wiegand.waterrides GmbH, creator of the giant slide complex. Guests slide down head-first on special mats from a height of 15 meters, then race through a 360-degree helix and several fast-paced waves. Riders can reach a maximum speed of 11 meters per second on the slide that is 120 meters in length, with an average gradient of 15%. Wiegand says the advantages of the stainless steel slide are that it is sustainable, requires very little maintenance, and is welded without joints.
