Through the exciting lineup of special events at IAAPA Expo 2022, attendees can hear about the global attractions industry’s latest projects, learn from industry executives, and forge business connections with leaders. Here are some highlights from the special events itinerary:
Monday, Nov. 14, 12 – 2 p.m.
Andrew Wexler, CEO of Herschend Enterprises, will present on “Leading with Love: Strategies for Growing a Successful Business,” sharing insights into the company’s love strategy that has helped grow a 1950s cave tour into one of North America’s largest family-owned attractions businesses with 26 properties. Attendees will learn Herschend’s recipe for long-term value creation and striking the right balance between maintaining shareholder values, talent retention, and financial growth.
Tuesday, Nov. 15, 9 – 10 a.m.
Attractions industry professionals from around the world will come together and experience what it means to be one community during IAAPA Expo. The Opening Ceremony is full of the energy and excitement that sets the tone for the week ahead with a look at the industry’s new trends and presentations from IAAPA’s officers.
Tuesday, Nov. 15, 6 – 8 p.m.
The Opening Reception gives attendees the chance to reconnect with peers and colleagues from around the world, make new connections, and jump into an exciting week at IAAPA Expo.
Wednesday, Nov. 16, 8:30 – 10 a.m.
Tom Mehrmann, president and chief operating officer of Universal Parks and Resorts, Pacific Rim, will share an overview of his 46-year history in the attractions industry and the leadership principles that apply to the industry’s past, present, and future. Mehrmann will share his personal journey, key learnings, and the positioning of Universal Studios today, along with an outlook on the dynamic prospects ahead.
Thursday, Nov. 17, 4 – 5:30 p.m.
Known as the “Sublime Prince of the Esoteric Order of Cookie,” Steven Lewis, owner and creator of Gideon’s Bakehouse, will deliver the Game Changer keynote. Gideon’s Bakehouse opened its first physical location in Orlando’s East End Market in 2016, and within weeks of opening, the 286-square-foot bakery received recognition from publications like The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and Delish.com. In 2021, Gideon’s opened a location at Disney Springs.
Thursday, Nov. 17, 8:15 – 11:15 p.m.
Taking place at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, IAAPA Celebrates is an exclusive evening event for attendees to mix and mingle with industry friends and colleagues, while enjoying select rides, entertainment, and dining options.
