Rio de Janeiro, a city well known for its world-class Carnival, will soon give its visitors another reason to celebrate. Scheduled to open in the second half of 2023, a state-of-the-art zipline in Parque Bondinho will invite guests to enjoy panoramic views of Rio while soaring at an altitude of 755 meters.
The new attraction will connect the Pão de Açúcar (also known as Sugarloaf Mountain) and Urca peaks, a natural protected area declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2012. Prior to project’s approval, acoustic and environmental impact assessments led by third parties were completed. Additionally, the attraction’s guardrails will incorporate bird-safe glass.
The new zipline will be located next to Rio’s iconic glass-walled cable car and will allow riders to experience speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour. Produced by Swiss-manufacturer Fatzer, the cables for the new attraction were held to high safety standards and were designed to minimize visual intervention, achieving greater integration with the landscape.
