Zoológico de Vallarta A.C.
Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico
Nestled in a jungle full of abundant vegetation, Zoológico de Vallarta A.C. first started connecting guests with nature and animals in September 2005.
“From the beginning, the mission has been to make locals and visitors aware of the importance of preserving our flora and fauna—especially all those that are in some degree of vulnerability, threatened, or in danger of extinction—thus achieving a better balance in our ecosystem,” says Martín Castañeda Jiménez, the zoo’s general manager. “Zoológico de Vallarta allows guests to have an escape from an urban setting and achieve a unique bond with nature.”
Following its 15th anniversary celebration, Zoológico de Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, continues its dedication to the conservation and preservation of the environment by educating guests of all ages on the different mammals, birds, and reptiles living at the zoo. Animals include lions, tigers, jaguars, llamas, crocodiles, green iguanas, capuchin monkeys, giraffes, flamingos, emus, and more. The park’s lush landscape serves as a living canvas where visitors are fully immersed in the natural world.
“During our tours, visitors enjoy a magical experience with the environment through their senses, listening to real sounds of nature, thanks to the different animal species that inhabit the region, as well as the zoo,” Castañeda Jiménez says. “Here, nature converges in perfect harmony without the distractions present in daily lives.”
Guests also have the opportunity to interact with some of the zoo’s animals, while members of the education team lead educational sessions that encourage visitors to protect the environment and wild animals, especially species that are endangered. The personal experiences deep in the jungle continue to resonate with guests.
“At Zoológico de Vallarta, visitors are most excited to walk in the middle of nature, observe the different species that live within the vicinity of the zoo, and learn from the educational interactions with our animals,” he says.
Castañeda Jiménez says Zoológico de Vallarta decided to join IAAPA to benefit from the association’s global network of resources and to make new connections.
“IAAPA is the attractions industry’s premier organizer of global events and facilitator of market connections, which have global reach and impact,” he says. “Our membership will make it possible to create an excellent link, thus facilitating connections around the world.”
