Bolliger & Mabillard | Happy Valley
Chaoyang, Beijing, China
Built as the cornerstone of Happy Valley Beijing’s new section, “Himalayan Eagle Music Roller Coaster” is the masterpiece of the Shangri-La District, a new enhancement at the 13-year-old park.
The ride is a custom-built Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) steel sit-down coaster with 1,200 meters of track and a maximum height of around 50 meters. Its two trains carry 36 riders in nine coaches. Each train features an onboard audio and light system and animated LED lights built into the front and sides of the trains.
“After departing from the station, the train, playing beautiful background music, makes a right turn leading into a 16-story chain-lift hill,” says Yang Lvbing, the park’s deputy general manager. “Once at the top, it drops immediately, then [experiences] some twists, turns, and sudden drops. This precisely designed ultimate ride experience is like a Himalayan eagle flying through the sky, and it is the first coaster in China with custom theming, onboard audio and light system, and a water splash.”
“Himalayan Eagle Music Roller Coaster” is the sixth roller coaster in Happy Valley in Beijing. “The introduction of a music roller coaster in Happy Valley Beijing is not blindly following a trend, but is based on comprehensive market research,” says Yang. “We made a scientific choice by comprehensively analyzing the development trends of theme parks at home and abroad in recent years and the needs of customers.”
She adds that the “unbelievable thrill, exhilaration, and beauty” of the ride’s water splash will attract more riders.
