Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter
Leavesden, England, United Kingdom
In its biggest expansion to date, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter invites visitors onto the set of Gringotts Wizarding Bank.
The 16,500-square-foot addition allows guests to walk into the bank, where they can marvel at marble columns and crystal chandeliers, just like characters Harry, Ron, and Hermione, before entering the treasure-filled Lestrange Vault. A gallery of goblin bankers demonstrates the skill that went into the making of the films’ prosthetics and costumes.
The climactic scene recreates the sequence from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” where the Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon smashes the bank to bits. Guests will walk through the original, destroyed set and watch as digital technology brings the dragon to life.
“We worked closely with the Thinkwell Group and original filmmakers to ensure our expansion showcases the best of Gringotts as seen on screen,” says Sarah Roots, senior vice president, Warner Bros. Worldwide Tours. “Visitors have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the set and get a really authentic experience. We’ve taken care to ensure that every angle looks perfect in pictures, and there are many unique photo opportunities so visitors can share their memories on social media.”
Gringotts Wizarding Bank is the latest in a series of expansions since the tour opened in 2012. Roots believes it is important to continually refresh the product to remain a premier destination for Wizarding World fans, attracting new and repeat guests. “The expansion has received an incredibly positive response from visitors with high ratings on TripAdvisor, and it has driven ticket sales,” she says.
At the same time as launching Gringotts, the tour opened a new lobby, entrance, and hub. The tour now features a redesigned and extended shop, as well as three new eating experiences: Chocolate Frog Café, Food Hall, and Hub Café.
