China’s First FlyingSaucer Debuts at OCT Nanjing
Parkgoers rocket through dark tunnels, alternating with wide saucers, on ProSlide Technology Inc.’s FlyingSaucer 45, which makes its China debut in the OCT Group’s latest water park: OCT Nanjing. The ride, launched along with ProSlide’s Mammoth family raft ride, creates a one-of-a-kind complex for China.
“The FlyingSaucer is one of the most unique attractions in water parks today with an iconic visual design inspired by ProSlide’s skiing heritage” says Nik Paas, ProSlide’s vice president for Asia-Pacific sales. “Combining these two distinctive ProSlide rides will give OCT Nanjing’s guests the opportunity to feel like World Cup ski racers as they accelerate into a high-speed turn with their friends and family, making for an incredibly memorable experience.”
The project in Nanjing is one of two recent collaborations between ProSlide and the OCT Group. The ride manufacturer has also launched a PowerRiver at OCT Xiangyang in Hubei province.
VR Coaster Celebrates Doraemon’s 50th Birthday in Japan
For a limited time, fans of the 22nd century robotic cat Doraemon can time travel back to the Cretaceous Period and into a futuristic world at Universal Studios Japan on a high-speed coaster equipped with virtual reality goggles.
The “‘Stand By Me Doraemon 2’ XR Ride” launched to coincide with the upcoming release of a film by the same name and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first Doraemon manga publication. The ride features an original storyline that ties back to the movie and was created in collaboration with the film’s production staff. It is open to the public for a five-month period ending in early January.
This is Universal Studio Japan’s first attraction based on the popular Doraemon franchise and builds on a previous collaboration that featured a Doraemon meet-and-greet, as well as special food and merchandise sales.
