Aquatica San Antonio Debuts Dueling Slides and Legoland California Builds Model of SoFi Stadium

Aquatica San Antonio Launches 565 Feet of Racing Slides 

With the summer season just around the corner, SeaWorld San Antonio is expecting fun lovers to flock to its Aquatica water park for an exhilarating ride on the park’s newest thrill slide, “Riptide Race.” The dueling water slide allows two groups of riders to race down a high-speed course of twists and turns, after launching off a 51-foot-tall tower, before careening into a splash pool at the end. Low walls on parts of the slide provide racers a view of their competitors. 

“Riptide Race,” manufactured by ProSlide, offers 565 feet of slides, and with a height requirement of just 42 inches, even younger kids and other guest groups are able to race friends and family members. The racing slide opened March 5 and is the third new high-speed water ride to open at Aquatica San Antonio in the past three seasons. The park is open each week, Friday to Sunday, until the start of its summer season on June 3, when it begins daily operations. 

Legoland California Unveils Largest Lego Stadium on Earth

Lego Master Builders recently completed the first Lego model to be added to the Miniland U.S.A. park section of Legoland California Resort in Carlsbad. The creation is a replica of the elaborate SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, which hosted Super Bowl LVI in February. SoFi cost $5.5 billion to build, making it the most expensive stadium on Earth. The model is expected be the largest Lego stadium in the world, and Legoland California says it could break the Guinness World Record for the largest Lego-brick stadium sculpture.

At more than 30 feet long, 15 feet wide, and 4 feet tall, the model is 1:50 scale of the real stadium. It took 25 Lego Master Builders more than 6,000 hours and over a half-million Lego bricks to complete the model. Legoland states that the model “kicks off” the expansion of the Southern California section of its Miniland U.S.A., with more new models set to debut this year. The park says fans will appreciate the extreme attention to detail that went into creating the Lego SoFi Stadium model. For example, the players on the field reflect the Los Angeles Rams’ starting offensive roster. Guests may also see a concert or two “held” in the stadium, highlighting the artists scheduled to perform at SoFi throughout 2022.
