Primera Technology Inc. (Booth #3856) showcased Eddie, the world’s first and only NSF International- and GMP-certified edible ink printer. The device prints photographs, logos, characters, and patterns onto cookies, white chocolate, biscuits, lollipops, donuts, and more. It can print one cookie in 10 seconds and 12 in two minutes. A carousel feeder rotates cookies into position while the printer pulls in one cookie at a time, prints on it, and then places it back on the carousel.
“It prints directly onto food itself and not onto sugar sheets that have to be cut and then placed on food,” said Jennifer Loegering, marketing manager for Primera. “There is usually no drying time needed, depending upon the food surface, so the items are ready for sale immediately after printing.” Loegering revealed that the printers are manufactured in Minnesota, where Primera is headquartered, so there are no supply chain issues with the company being able to access its printers once they are built. She said Primera sells and supports the printers worldwide.
