Sustainability at IAAPA Expo Europe
IAAPA Expo Europe and its partners are committed to sustainable working. See below areas where we work to achieve this:
IAAPA Expo Europe Show Organiser
- We work in venues and with contractors that have a sustainable policy
- We source local for items such as lanyards, bags, t-shirts etc
- We will have recycle bins available for attendees to deposit their badges when they are leaving the show for the last time
- Attendee bags are made from recyclable polypropylene
- Exhibitor manual and exhibit contracts are online to reduce printing
- Online membership applications
- We are using recycled paper for any printed materials
- More digital signage
London ExCeL IAAPA Expo Europe 2022 Venue
- 100% of ExCeL’s electricity supply is from renewable sources
- Gas supply is carbon offset using UN credits
- Light fittings are LED eco-friendly
- There is a living plant wall on the pedestrian approach to ExCeL from Custom House DLR station
- ExCeL are home to the UK’s largest wormery which recycles vegetable waste from their kitchens and generates fertilizer for green spaces around ExCeL
- Surplus food and furniture is donated to local charities
- Local food is sourced
- Red meat is no longer promoted on the hospitality menus
- Used vegetable oil is collected from ExCeL kitchens and converted to biofuel
Exhibit 360 General Services Contractor
- Exhibit 3Sixty recognises the importance of managing its environmental and social impacts both in terms of its premises and the work it undertakes off-site
- Exhibitors are encouraged to rent furniture to reduce logistics costs
- Recycled materials are used, when possible. These include carpet, graphics materials, cardboard etc
- Shell scheme is reused
- Fabric drape is reused
- Encourage online order to reduce paper
- Local material is sourced
- Use local staff/contractors
Exhibitor Sustainability Pledge
In an effort to make IAAPA Expo Europe more sustainable we are inviting exhibitors to participate in the IAAPA Expo Europe Sustainability Pledge.
How can you take part?
It’s so easy! Below a list of ways exhibitors can practice sustainability efforts during the show. We ask every company willing to pledge to select a minimum of 5 items and commit to them for the show. Of course you can select more than 5 as there is no limit but you must select at least 5.
How will you be recognized?
Your logo will be shown on digital screens and on the Sustainability webpage. You will get an electronic badge that you can use to promote your participation on social media, marketing materials etc.
You must select a minimum of 5 from the list below:
Energy Conservation
- Use either LED or compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs)
- All displays, monitors and lighting powered down or put into sleep mode during non-expo hours
- Walk, take the shuttle bus, or rideshare with your company employees to/from the facility daily
Booth Build & Graphics
- Submit show orders electronically instead of printing order forms
- Flooring is reusable and has either been used at previous events or will be used at future events
- Display elements are reused from past events or will be reused at future events
- Display elements contain a minimum 30% recycled content
- Display elements include aluminium components (durable, lightweight and pack in less space)
- Use low volatile organic compound (VOC) and environmentally preferable carpet
- Use low-VOC paints and coatings
- Buy local: Use local suppliers for required building materials
- Graphics are reusable and either used at previous events or will be used at future events
- Graphics and signage are produced on 100$ recyclable substrate
- Graphics and signage contain a minimum of 30% recycled material
- Graphics are printed on fabric material made of at least 30% recycled content
Shipping & Packaging Practices
- Shipments are consolidated into a single shipment
- Avoid polystyrene used in booth shipment (i.e., packing peanuts, Styrofoam, or foam plastic)
- Choose biodegradable packing materials
- Use recyclable packaging
- Padding materials and exhibit crates are reused for shipping during move-out
Waste Management
- Waste is properly disposed and use recyclable waste bins for paper, aluminium, plastic, and glass
- Use cleaning products that are environmentally friendly
- Participate in the exhibit donation programme with Give Kids the World by donating leftover product
- Recycle badges and the end of the show
Marketing Materials
- Reduce literature and the number of giveaways shipped by 10% compared to previous shows
- Giveaways are made of recycled, responsibly grown natural fibre, non-toxic & biodegradable materials
- Use electronic giveaways like a USB storage drive with your content already loaded
- Use 100% recyclable or 50% post-consumer recycled content paper for all printed materials
- Post QR codes in the booth for marketing materials rather than handing out physical copies
- Use the lead retrieval system to capture show leads instead of collecting business cards
Food & Beverage
- Order seasonal and local produce to help reduce your carbon footprint
- Food and beverage in the booth will use reusable china or compostable and recyclable service ware
- Host a water cooler in your booth
- Recycle plastic water bottles in your booth
