Safety is the attractions industry's main pillar and priority: safety for guests, for employees, and safe equipment and facilities operation and maintenance. 

The IAAPA Safety Institute virtual offers introductory content about safety, as an opportunity for entry-level parks and attractions operators, and anyone with an interest in the attractions industry safety, to learn about safety standards and their application to attractions, risk management, and best practices of operation and maintenance.

Francisco Donatiello

Francisco is an electronic engineer specializing in parks and attractions safety. He already has 43 years of experience, most of them as an expert in maintenance, safety, advice, and consulting, for parks and attractions of all kinds. He is also the director of Espacio Fun, a family entertainment center company that now operates four parks.

Francisco has participated in the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) stands out for the development of technical standards for amusement parks and attractions, where he has also been the coordinator for the review of standards for parks. His collaboration with IAAPA Latin America and the Caribbean is extensive, since he participated as a member of the global safety committee, and was president of the safety subcommittee for Latin America.

To date, he participates in the Advisory Committee and is a member of the IAAPA Latin America, Caribbean Safety Subcommittee.

Dirceu Herkenhoff

Electrical Engineer and Maintenance Coordinator
Beto Carrero World

He started working at Beto Carrero in 2002 in the electrical area and took over as an electrical engineer and maintenance coordinator. He participated in the implementation of major attractions such as Big Tower, Fire Wipe, and Crazy River, and since then, participated in the assembly of all attractions at Beto Carrero World Park.

Dirceu has a degree in electrical engineering, and a post-graduate degree in occupational safety engineering with a specialization in automation engineering; he holds an MBA degree in Business Management.

Specialist in theme park management and high-demand operations in the food service segment. He worked at the start-up of Hopi Hari, Playcenter Park, Snowland Park in Gramado. He provided services to others in the field such as Sao Paulo Aquarium, Kids City, Magic City, Playland, PlayArte Cinemas, and others. Currently responsible for Entertainment and Operation Parques da Aviva – Rio Quente Resorts, Costa do Sauipe, and Hot Park.

Rafael started his career in the amusement industry in 2002 as Food & beverage attendant working at Hopi Hari. Later, he had the opportunity to develop his career working for great players in the industry such as Wet’n Wild São Paulo, Farah Experiences Abu Dhabi, Hot Beach Olimpia, and as COO at Thermas Acqualinda.

He has Bachelor's Degree in Business administration and, is always focused on safety and professional development, has several certifications, among them, IAAPA Certified Attractions Executive, Disney Approach series by Disney Institute, and  Autism Certificate by IBCCES.

He participated as a presenter in several IAAPA webinars and was part of IAAPA’s Food and Beverage Committee.
