5 Steps for IAAPA Certification
The first step on your journey to earning an IAAPA certification is to understand the program eligibility requirements, certification process, and policies. It is important to review the following to determine if you meet the eligibility requirements.

The second step on your journey is to complete the application, submit your supporting document(s), and payment. This step is completed in IAAPA's Online Learning Portal. In this step it is important to complete the following tasks:
- Submit payment and application
- Submit supporting documentation

The third step on your certification journey takes place after your application is approved. You will receive instructions to schedule your exam at a date / time convenient for you. IAAPA has partnered with Examity Testing who remotely delivers your exam at home or work. IAAPA has partnered with Prolydian, who remotely delivers your exam at home or work.
In this step it is important to complete the following tasks:
- Log onto the Prolydian website to schedule an examination date and time
- Review the exam syllabus to self-assess individual strengths and weaknesses to the various exam topics.
- Engage with IAAPA content (archives, webinars, institutes, online learning, etc.) to prepare for the exam.
- NEW! IAAPA Certified Attractions Professional (ICAP) Member Study Guide. Purchase the ICAP Study Guide to get familiar with exam content and sample questions in advance.
The fourth step requires you to sit for your pre-scheduled examination. Once you arrive at the Examity website you will be greeted by your proctor who will take you through the secure check-in process and initiate and terminate your exam that you have been authorized for. It is important to follow the exact protocols issued by the proctor during this step to avoid issues.
In this step it is important to complete the following tasks:
- Review the Step four section of the Certification handbook and policy manual one more time to ensure you are prepared for your examination.
- Log into the Examity website on the scheduled date and time.
- During the check-in process with the proctor, show your government-issued photo id to verify your identity.
- Follow the protocols provided by the proctor.
Congratulations on earning your IAAPA certification! Now that you hold a prestigious IAAPA credential, it is essential to maintain your relevance and industry knowledge. Maintaining your credential requires all certificants to accumulate 40 hours of continuing education every three years. For each three-year period, a renewal fee of $200 for IAAPA members and $300 for nonmembers must be paid when the renewal application is submitted. The application and payment are due no later than December 31 the year the certification expires.
In this step it is important to complete the following tasks:
- Review the Certification handbook to understand the many ways you can earn continuing education units. Over the course of the three-year window, be sure to track your continuing education using the CEU tracker provided.
- Coming Soon IAAPA Pre-Approved Training Provider Program courses can be used to satisfy ICAP and ICAE continuing education requirements. The IAAPA Pre-Approved Training Provider Program Registry gives certified individuals one place to quickly find these qualified courses.

Join Our Upcoming Certification Registry
IAAPA is excited to introduce our upcoming IAAPA Certification Registry. The IAAPA Certification Registry will be an up-to-date record of individuals who have earned an IAAPA Certification and maintain it by reporting continuing education units (CEU) to keep their credentials active. All active IAAPA certification holders who choose to voluntarily opt-in will be included in the registry. The IAAPA Certification Registry will allow you to provide evidence of your accomplishments and provides an opportunity for employers and recruiters to verify your IAAPA designations.
